  1. What are the factors affecting GPR effectivity in locating services? onesearchlocators.home.blog/2019/10/29/what-are-the-factors-affecting-gpr-effectivity-in-locating- services However, as with other methods used in locating services underground, certain factors affect the effectivity of GPR. Below are some. Utility Depth & Material If a utility is located deep underground, a GPR unit needs to adjust its settings accordingly. The same goes for those in shallow areas. Lower frequencies for great depth & higher frequencies for shallow areas. Similar to depth, utility material also plays a part in the effectivity of GPR. Non-metallic materials like plastic need a different setting than metallic pipes which are conductive. Type of Antenna Used GPR unit antennas come in different sizes. The small ones can produce the highest frequencies. This allows for the best resolution when detecting small & shallow utilities. The large ones can emit lower frequencies to detect utilities of much greater depth. Type of Soil 1/2

  2. The type of soil also affects the effectivity of a unit using ground penetrating radar. Brisbane locators share that dry & sandy soil types prove most responsive while signal loss can occur in clay-rich types. Furthermore, soil layers may consist of different types. The top can be dry while those beneath can be of clay. Why is it important to consider these factors when using GPR? 2/2
