All you want to do is put your feet up, have a cold drink, and put on the air conditioner. But OH NO — the AC is not working! It seems like air conditioner problems always seem to crop up at the worst possible time or do they? Perhaps, you have been ignoring the warning signs that you need AC repair. Let’s look at some common air conditioner problems that mean you need to get an AC service ASAP. 7 Warning Signs That Mean You Need to Find Reliable AC Repair Services Soon Image source: AC Service 1. The AC is blowing warm air instead of cool air You know it’s time for an AC service session if it’s blowing hot air instead of refreshing cool air! The problem could be restricted air flow or there could be a compressor issue. Get a trusted AC technician to properly diagnose & fix the issue. 2. The AC airflow is very weak This is a common problem but it should not be ignored. Weak airflow means your AC is not working as efficiently as it should. There may be something wrong with the air filter. It could be clogged or blocked. The reason for the weak airflow may also be a faulty motor that is not working properly. Contact an experienced AC Repair Services provider to find out exactly what’s the matter with your AC. 3. The AC is not cooling well

  2. This is another common issue with faulty air conditioners. The reason for insufficient cooling could be the same as above — clogged air filter or faulty motor. But a dirty outdoor unit could also be to blame. The outdoor unit is responsible for turning the hot air in the room into cool air. This problem can be easily remedied by cleaning the unit. You may also want to check whether you have selected the right cooling mode. This is a problem that has an easy fix. Insufficient cooling can also be caused by low levels of refrigerant. It is a cooling chemical that is an essential component of your AC. It is best to get a qualified technician as this is not the kind of problem that can be easily solved by yourself at home. 4. There is water leakage from the AC During the normal functioning of your AC, there will of course be some water from condensation by the outside unit. But a water leakage inside your room could be a concern. There could be many reasons for this. A condensation drainage pipe could become clogged leading to water leakage. A damaged drainage pan or a faulty condensate pump could also be to blame. Now, if you notice water pooling around the outside unit, the problem could be improper installation. That’s why it’s a good idea to get a professional to inspect your AC and fix it. Image Source: AC Repair 5. The AC keeps turning off and on If your air conditioner keeps turning off and on by itself, an electrical problem could be indicated. A failing compressor or a faulty temperature sensor can also cause this annoying problem. It’s always a good idea to have a professional take a look at your AC when this issue happens. 6. The AC is making loud unusual noises A low-level humming sound when the AC is turned on is quite normal but if your AC is making rattling sounds or loud grinding or scraping noises, you should get AC repair done immediately. A rattling sound could mean a part has come off loose somewhere inside the AC unit. This problem can be fixed easily enough by a professional. A serious problem may be to blame if you hear a grinding noise. Do not ignore these noise issues as they could lead to serious breakdowns in the future. If the AC is also vibrating and shaking while making noises, it could mean that it’s not installed properly.

  3. 7. There’s a bad smell coming from the AC If the air smells musty or feels damp when you turn on your air conditioner, then the problem could be the formation of algae or fungi. The smell coming from the AC could also be acrid. That could mean a burned-out wire somewhere inside the AC unit. Leaking of the refrigerant can also cause a funny chloroform-like smell to come from your AC. Either way, have a trained expert examine your AC and find out the root cause of the issue. Remember the proverb from your school days, a stitch in time saves nine? These AC problems are the same! If they are not addressed right away they may cause bigger problems and your AC may not work when you need it the most — on hot, humid days.
