  3. How did this holiday start? • Pilgrims were the first people to come to America • They arrived in 1621

  4. How did the Pilgrims come to America? • The Mayflower is the ship that brought the pilgrims to America.

  5. Native Americans • When the Pilgrims arrived, they encountered Native Americas • Native Americans are the people who lived in America before anyone else • Native Americans helped the Pilgrims build homes and find food.

  6. The First Thanksgiving • The Pilgrims were so happy with the Native Americans so they decided to make the Native Americans a big dinner to thank them and demonstrate their appreciation.
