  2. Gambling defined • to play a game of chance for money or property • to bet or wager on an uncertain outcome • to stake something on a contingency : take a chance • any game of chance in which the prize is offered to the winner at the losers’ expense

  3. How should we gain money ? • 2 Thessalonians 3:10 • 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. • 2 Corinthians 12:14 • 14 Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

  4. How should we gain money ? • Luke 19:11-27 ; Matthew 25:14-30 • Proverbs 12:11 • 11 Those who till their land will have plenty of food,    but those who follow worthless pursuits have no sense.

  5. What are we doing ? • Matthew 7:12 • 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. • Galatians 6:10 • 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

  6. Where is our hope ? • Luke 12:15 • 15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

  7. Where is our hope ? • Ecclesiastes 5:10 • 10 He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver;Nor he who loves abundance, with increase.This also is vanity. • Colossians 3:1-3 •  If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

  8. Be good stewards • 1 Peter 4:10 • 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. • 1 Chronicles 29:13-14 • 13 “Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.

  9. Don’t fall into a snare • 1 Timothy 6:9-10 • 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

  10. Flee these things • 1 Timothy 6:11 • 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

  11. What are gambling’s fruits ? • 2 Peter 2:19 • 19While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. • Mark 7:21-23 • 21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

  12. Society is a hypocrite ! • Luke 11:39 • 39 Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. • Matthew 23:25 • 25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.

  13. What does common sense tell us ? • Galatians 5:19-23 • 19Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. • 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

  14. Let’s not be like the world • Ephesians 4:17-24 • 17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. • 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

  15. Gambling isn’t for everyone • Proverbs 16:8 • 8 Better a little with righteousness    than much gain with injustice.
