High speed digital systems laboratory המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות Abstract • Converting analog fax transmission to a digital signal • Decoding and interpreting the digital signal • Determine the fax call state from the digital signal using state machine, negotiating accordingly with the computer • Transmitting an image information to the computer using AT-Commands • Repeating the process for the case of the computer initiating the fax call

  5. High speed digital systems laboratory המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות System Input (Fax) • The system input is an analog phone line signal • The source of the signal is a fax machine • The analog signal bandwidth is 2000Hz (200-2200Hz)

High speed digital systems laboratory המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות System Output (Computer) • The system output is an analog serial data • The data rate is 9600/14400bps (TBD) • The data will contain AT-Commands and image data (Bytes) • The computer emulates cellular network modem server, using simple fax software

High speed digital systems laboratory המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות SLIC • Subscriber Line Interface Circuit • Detects the line state (On hook, etc.), sets line state (line tone, etc.) • Decodes/creates DTMF signals (dial tones) • Converts analog signal to PCM (Pulse Code Modulation), and converts PCM to analog signal • Communicates with DSP on serial multichannel 2.048MHz link

  8. High speed digital systems laboratory המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות DSP • Digital Signal Processor • Decodes/encodes PCM data • Change state at state machine according PCM data or AT-Commands • Decodes/encodes image data from PCM data • Sends/receives AT-Commands to/from remote server

  9. High speed digital systems laboratory המעבדה למערכות ספרתיות מהירות Feedback (Control Computer) • Monitors SLIC activity • Reports line state and DTMF data to the DSP • Control SLIC according to the DSP commands
