  2. Fast Track Institute The Fast Track Institute provides fast-paced, intensive, job preparation programs for job seekers, mid-career professionals, recent high school graduates and other community members looking for an opportunity to quickly jumpstart their career.

Why Fast Track? • Programs selected based on local labor market demand and employer advisory groups • Up-to-date skills and industry certifications relevant to the local region • Quickly deployed • Short term, intensive format that facilitates gaining skills/content information quickly • Taught by subject matter experts who have been trained to teach

  4. What Makes Fast Track Different? • Fee based classes • Short term – leads to entry level employment • Hands-on, intensive, skill based • Many Fast Track programs can flow into traditional Career Technical Education (CTE) classes

  5. Fast Track and CTE Programs • Will not compete with current CTE programs • Can be used to pilot classes while curriculum is being developed • Can be used when the job openings are temporary or easily saturated • Can be used to off load classes that are not part of the core mission • Can be used to create opportunities when programs are at cap

  6. Initial Program Areas • Manufacturing and Welding • Health Care and General Office • Managerial/Professional Certifications • Faculty sponsored programs • AutoCAD, Photography, Nursing, etc. • There are over 50 LMI supported prospect programs

  7. Process • Program genesis • LMI Data • Advisory groups • Faculty suggestion • Feasibility • Market for program (at cost required) • Curriculum available or can be created • Instructors available • Facilities available • Implementation • Marketing/Recruitment • Execution • Placement

  8. First Out of the Gate • CNC Machinist Training • 280 hours of instruction over 7 weeks • Monday through Friday, 7:30 – 4:30 • Two instructors (high availability), two venues • At completion 11 graduates and 11 hiring entities at job fair, several hirings in process at this time

  9. Next up • Precision Assembly for Biomedical • 250 hours of instruction over 7 weeks • Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30 – 4:30 • Seven instructors (low availability), five venues • No existing curriculum

  10. Recruitment and Placement • What are “Things we are not used to doing” • Partner with WorkSource for recruitment and screening • WorkKeys Assessment based on job profile • 12 top candidates selected for program based on potential for success and placement • Job Fair at completion partnered with WorkSource, Career Services and CTE Job Developer
