CAMERA & TRIPOD • Show that you can*: • Identify parts of a tripod • Set up a tripod safely • Pack down a tripod safely • Load a battery into the camera • Load an SD card into the camera • Format the card • Perform tilts and pans effectively • Evidence: Which video can this be seen in? • Demonstrate the use of the rule of thirds • Demonstrate the ability to expose an image correctly • Perform a rack focus • Control depth of field • Control motion blur • Change lenses safely • Pack equipment away correctly • Follow industry procedure for beginning a new take Tutor Feedback: Visit Sheffield *to tick these off you must have a lecturer observe you performing each of these tasks Achievement for completion: Ability to book camera and tripod equipment from Media Stores.

SOUND • Show that you can*: • Identify sound equipment • Set up a field recorder for mono recording safely • Set up correctly and operate a boom safely • Format the compact flash card • Check battery status • Start a new track • Monitor levels • Record good quality audio • Evidence: Which video can this be seen in? • Use a lapel microphone • Use a shotgun microphone • Follow industry procedure for beginning a new take • Successfully connect the Marantz kit to a computer and import audio tracks • Pack audio equipment away correctly and safely Tutor Feedback:  Interview – Alex, Jude Interview *to tick these off you must have a lecturer observe you performing each of these tasks Achievement for completion: Ability to book Marantz kits and microphones and time in the audio suite from Media Stores.

Editing • Show that you can*: • Use log sheets • Organise media in Windows as per college workflow • Rename media accurately • Import media and organise into bins in Premiere • Cut for continuity (match on action – Jodie and Spencer) • Add appropriate titles • Add appropriate music • Add appropriate transitions • Evidence: Which video can these be seen in? • Set in and out points on clips • Construct a structured location piece (Visit Sheffield Video) • Cut to music • Export full HD video files (as .mov using H.264) • Upload a completed video to a hosting site and embed in your blog Tutor Feedback: Visit Sheffield Fades *to tick these off you must have a lecturer observe you performing each of these tasks Achievement for completion: Ability to book time in the editing suites from Media Stores
