  2. JOHN REAGANS EARLY LIFE….. • John Reagan was born on October 8, 1818, in the Great Smoky Mountains in Sevier County, Tennessee. • John Reagan worked in a tannery with is father on their farm. • Seldom had time for school.

  3. John Reagan's profession before the Civil war…. • In 1838 Reagan left Tennessee to seek greater monetary gain. Briefly he managed a plantation near Natchez before being lured to Texas, where a job at Nacogdoches supposedly awaited him.
