Messenger

The Messenger spacecraft, launched on August 2, 2004, has completed several significant flybys of Earth, Venus, and Mercury. Key dates include the Earth flyby on August 2, 2005; the first and second Venus flybys on October 24, 2006, and June 5, 2007, respectively; and three Mercury flybys on January 14, 2008, October 6, 2008, and September 29, 2009. The mission's exciting Mercury orbital insertion is scheduled for March 18, 2011, marking a new era in solar system exploration.
