  2. What is voice thread? • “A Voice Thread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos.” • Users can add friends into their voice thread which will allow them to view the voice thread and leave comments using their recorded voice, text, audio file or video through their webcam. • Users can doodle on others voice threads while leaving comments and can also create multiple identities. • http://voicethread.com/#u529865.b409.i848804

  3. Teacher Uses • Teachers can use voice thread to teach a lesson. • A teacher can also use it when she is going to be absent; she can make a voice thread video demonstrating or explaining what she wants the students to do. • This could also be done for the substitute. • Teachers can get to know their students • They can also have them act out a poem on there or review a video or an educational movie they watched. • http://voicethread.com/library/13/

  4. Great Voice Threads are made before the computer is turned on. • Have the students prepare, create, and edit long before they sit down to 'publish' their ideas. Even if the Voice Thread will never be shared outside of the class the students should take their commenting and their work seriously. We do encourage publishing when possible because it provides the students added incentive to perform well and take ownership of their work. Tips for Classroom Use • It's worth watching all of the tutorial Voice Threads. • These 'mini-lessons' give you visual instructions for using the features at Voice Thread, and will enhance your experience and the quality of your projects! Start slow and be project based. Don't register for an account and the next day introduce Voice Thread to a Lab filled with 26 students (or educators) Instead, find a simple project that lets them learn the basics at their own pace, e.g. a book discussion, a language photo biography, a math cast, a discussion of a video etc.

  5. Tips for Classroom Use • Network with other Voice Threaders. • Very nice folks can be found in our forum and in other • great communities as well. Help is always just a click away. Voice Thread is an application that works inside your web browser and is constantly communicating back and forth with our servers. If your connection is poor you might experience some strange behavior. When you do have trouble, first refresh your web page, if that doesn’t clear up the issue then try deleting your Browsers cache and signing out and then in again. http://voicethread.com/?#c28

  6. Student Uses Students can use voice thread to brainstorm( thought bubbles) important ideas for their projects. Allows students to participate in classroom discussions in a unique way. Students can use it to tell digital stories and give presentations. Students can also use it for personal use in their Facebook or Myspace pages. Receive lectures from missed classes
