  2. Geography • Located in present day southern Egypt and Northern Sudan. • Has one of the harshest climates in the world. • Irrigation systems lead from the Nile River to help farming.

  3. Achievements • Had well accomplished metal workers and make thin walled pottery on wheels. • Had irrigation systems and used pottery to carry water to houses. • In 750 B.C the Nubians conquered Egypt.

  4. Law and Government/Rulers • Dynasties were lead by kings, and after a king died they were to be buried in large round tombs. • Taharqa and other kings that followed, ruled Egypt for nearly a century. • The last Nubian king of Egypt was Tanwetamani.

  5. Religion • Nubians were mostly Christians and followed “The Ten Commandments.” • Prayer - If a Nubian did not pray they were to be banished from the tribe. • Weddings – They usually married they’re cousins and the weddings lasted 40 days.

  6. Economy • Men migrated to find work, while women were left to go agricultural work. • There were two farming seasons, winter crops, shitwi, and summer crops, sifi. • Nile River helped make it easier for Nubia for trade.

  7. What forces led to the rise of Nubia? • They’re location near the Nile River, which helped them with trading. • They had a useful irrigation system to transport water, and they had two farming season which gave them enough crops to live off of. • Nubia conquered Egypt in 750 B.C.
