  2. Eravikulam National Park, the home and sanctuary of the Nilgiri Tahr. The rare habitat and sanctuary is open to everyone throughout the year. The rare flora and fauna present in the park also attract visitors. Nilgiri Tahr is an exotic animal often spotted here. Most of the areas of the national park are consistent hill plateau. So, you can see only high rolling slopes here. The highest peak is Anamudi (2690m). The forests you see here are commonly known as ‘shoals’ – evergreen tropical and sub tropical moist broadleaf forest. Strikingly charming birds such as black and orange Flycatcher, Nilgiri Pipit, Nilgiri wood pigeon and white-bellied shortwing can be seen at this place. Only a few buses of Forest Department operate inside the National Park. It remains closed for tourists during monsoons. Mattupetty Dam : Mattupetty is located 13 km away from Munnar. . It is among the most visited destinations in Munnar. It is a beautiful picnic spot that regularly attracts visitors Here you can enjoy the greenish valleys and feel the fabulous climate around. The main attraction of Mattupetty is the dam and the lake here. The dense green tea plantations and forests in and around Mattupetty are excellent for trekking. The most attractive part of Mattupetty dam is its still water which reflects the tea garden around. You can engage yourself with water sport activities like speed boating. The best time to visit Mattupetty is from the month of August to May. Meesapulimala : The beauty of Meesapulimala has to be enjoyed through trekking. Descending the hill would require you to cross the beautiful Anayairankal lake. Sometimes the wildlife of the Shola forests may come out and give you a welcoming sight, by the time you reach the seventh peak. On reaching the eighth and the final peak, the Meesapulimala peak, though tired you would feel freshen and excited to see the amazing views.
