Valma is democracy on the web! • Valma puts items online for residents’ comments. • In an early stage of preparation or planning process issues can published in Valma • Valma shows all related document and outlines procedure • There is on a automatic connection between Valma and IT-systems of administration, • so when the handling of the issues continues the procedure and document of administration can be seen via Valma • all processing phase of the subject matter, all electronic documents and all decisions can be seen Eija Uurtamo project manager

Valma is democracy on the web.. • Valma shows GIS data • if it necessary and important to show places in the map it is possible • Valma sends your opinions to officials, planners and committee members (politicians) • Valma has connection to email of the above mentioned groups, at the same time they all get the same email • On the bases on the cases recievers differ Eija Uurtamo project manager

  7. Valma is democracy on the web.. • Valma publishes the opinions • if the sender provides his/her contact information. Opinions can be posted under a pen-name. Also the permission of publishing is needed. • a person of the cities’ communication unit is doing the publising work, she/he also check that the opinion is not inappropriate. (Mostly they are). Valma is democracy on the web.. • Valma shows the latest items and opinions on the front page • you can find items also by subject matter • following the newest issues is easy but t it also possible and fluent to follow the older ones • Valma sends a newsletter to email • so the following of cities issues is possible and easy • a user will receive a newsletter of all issues he/she is interested in Eija Uurtamo project manager

Role of Communication •  There is no participation without communication! • a press release every time when new item is publised • newsletters to neighbourhood committees, parents’ association, other collaborators etc. • local newspapers are the most important media for resident to get local information Eija Uurtamo project manager
