Igneous Rocks • Igneous Rocks- • can be formed inside the earth from cooled magma or outside after a volcano eruption and lava cools. • Use the next slide to answer the following questions: • What happens to lava color as it gets hotter? • What temperature is orange lava? • What is the temperature difference in the hottest lava and coolest lava?   12. The Coolest Rock • Get a partner and a copy of The Coolest Rock, by Sherilin Chanek. • Read the book silently to yourself. • After both your partner and you have finished, quiz each other on the rock cycle. (Look on the back cover for some great questions.)

  13. Virtual Experiment • Please watch the video and see if you can determine the rock being shown. • Pay close attention to how it feels, looks, and what it does. If video does not begin automatically, click image to begin, or to play again.
