Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” {Romans 1:26,27}

Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart will utter perverse things.” {Proverbs 23:31-33}

Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites.” {1 Corinthians 6:9}

Abstain from every form of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22) • “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” {Romans 6:23}

The Heavy Price of Sin • People are putting a more attractive face on sin’s ugly face. • “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” {Isaiah 5:20,21}

  13. About Sin • Sin defined:A transgression of God’s commandment. • A serious matter in God’s sight. • People tend to view some transgressions asinsignificant. • “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.”{1 John 3:4}

Sin Exacts a Heavy Price • Spiritually: severe consequences… • “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” {Isaiah 59:2} • Sin—no fellowship with God • “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” {1 John 1:6}

  15. Sin Exacts a Heavy Price • Physically: Many sins also cause physical damage… • David’s sin with Bathsheba“... I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said to David, ‘The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die.” {2 Samuel 12:13,14}

  16. Sin Exacts a Heavy Price • Physically: Many sins also cause physical damage… • Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco alter lives. • Sexual immorality has destroyed many lives. • Proverbs 13:15 • Numbers 32:23 • Romans 6:16

Sin Exacts a Heavy Price • Mentally and emotionally • Sometimes we have trouble forgiving ourselves, even after we have sought God’s forgiveness. • Sin brings sorrow into our lives.“A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.’ And when he thought about it, he wept.” {Mark 14:72}

  18. The Price of Redemption • It took Christ’s death to free mankind from sin’s bondage. • Hebrews 2:14,15 • Sin cannot be considered a trivial matter. • Romans 5:6-11 • God gave the very best of heaven to provide the remedy for sin. • John 3:16
