  2. How it came about • Assisting the vulnerable and disadvantaged a priority for Council • DHS funding for Home Support clients • Cross department co-operation. Home Support Services and Environmental Sustainability • Opportunity to add value to the Federal Government program • Increase weatherproofing and energy efficiency

  3. Planning • Target clients – ~80 HACC clients in Reservoir • Delivery of information – Fact sheets, questionnaire, consent to participate • Insulation Installers – Expression of interest and interview process

  4. Implementing • Information for Installers – client details and process • Assessment details – review and acceptance of quotes • Installation – chasing up and invoice processing

  5. Challenges • Other Installers – aggressive market due to the Federal Rebate • Administration and timeframe – more than expected • Resource Intensive – costly activity reaching small percentage of community • First Step - good quality insulation but just one step towards weatherproofing /improving energy efficiency

  6. Next Steps • Pilot program – evaluate and report • Work with current clients – Energy and Water Taskforce and scoping pedestal fans • Future program – what to roll out on an ongoing basis
