  2. Chp. 5.2 Gram • Use hace + time + que + a verb in the present tense • To talk about an event that began in the past but is still going on,

  3. Time expressions • Unahora • Un día • Unasemana • Un mes • Un año • Poco/mucho tiempo

  4. Not an exact time • Generally this does not have to be an exact time but rather gives a time frame of how long one has been doing something. • Ex. ¿Cuántotiempohacequeenseñas? • Haceveinteañosqueenseño. • Notice the pattern of hace + time +que + verb in present.

  5. You can’t go wrong! • If you follow the pattern, you can’t get it wrong. Just remember that the subject does have to be used in the conjugation. • So if I am speaking of someone else teaching, I would say, “ Haceveinteañosque Maria enseña.” Just conjugate the verb accordingly. • Let’s try it.

  6. ¿Cuántotiempohacequeestudiasespañol? • Say: It has been 3 yrs. that you have been studying Spanish.

  7. Answer • Hacetresañosqueestudioespañol.

  8. ¿Cuántotiempohaceque Daniel toca la trompeta?Respond with: 9 months

  9. Answer • Hacenuevemesesquetoca la trompeta.

  10. ¿Cuántotiempohaceque Juana tieneeseperro? • Respond with it has been 5 years that she has that dog.

  12. ¿Cuántotiempohaceque la profesorateconoce? • Respond with 10 years that the teacher has known you.

  14. ¿Cuántotiempohacequeestudiaspara el exámen? • Respond with it has been 2 hours
