  1. Job Openings I am hiring for different positions for an upcoming cattle drive. I have about 3000 head of cattle that need to be herded up to the cattle town of Abilene, Kansas. I have openings for a trail boss, cook, two wranglers and 15 cowboys. Please send your application to the owner of the Rocking C ranch.

  2. The Trail Boss PAY: $100.00 per month. JOB: You will be in charge of the men and the cattle during the trail drive. Each day you will ride ahead of the herd and choose the best route for the cattle and the best place to bed down at night. Once you and the crew reach the cattle town, it will be your responsibility to sell the cattle and pay the crew.

  3. The Cowboy PAY: $30.00 a month JOB: You will be helping other cowboys to guide the herd during the day. You will rotate your daily position with the other cowboys. Those positions are: Point Rider-you lead the herd; Flank Rider-you are on the side and should keep the herd from straying; Drag Rider-you ride in the back and keep the cattle from straggling. Drag is the worst position because of the dust kicked up by thousands of hooves.

  4. The Wrangler PAY: $2.00 per month JOB: You will learn the ropes of the cattle drive but you aren’t old enough to be a cowboy. Age requirement: 14-16. You are responsible managing the herd of spare horses, or remuda. You will also help the cook.

  5. The Cook PAY: $50.00 a month JOB: You are key to keep the crew happy!! Apply only if you are a good cook. You will drive the chuckwagon that will carry the crew’s food, equipment, and blankets to each campsite. You will be the first one to pitch camp, prepare three meals a day, tend to your wagon and mules. You will also provide medical assistance to any injured crew. You will have a wrangler or two to help you.

  6. APPLY NOW!! If you would like any of these jobs apply now!! Be sure to include in your application letter, your name, job you are applying for, why you think you’d do a good job and your qualifications.
