Corresponding State Standards • Science Standards: • GLE 0107.7.1 Realize that water, rocks, soil, living organisms, and man-made objects make up the earth’s surface. • GLE 0107.7.2 Classify earth materials according to their physical properties. • Social Studies Standards: • 1.3.02d Describe the concept of human features as in cities, buildings, farms, roads, and railroads. • 1.3.03c Compare and contrast natural and artificial features of the earth.

  3. Natural Objects • Some things occur naturally in our world. These things are not made by people. Water, rocks, plants, and trees are made by nature.

  4. Can you name some other natural objects? • Did you say sand, air, grass, mountains, soil, or animals?

  5. Man Made Objects • Other items in our world are made by people. • There are many of these human features on the earth’s surface.We call these things man made objects. Things like buildings, cars, books, and furniture are man made.

  6. Can you think of some other man made objects? Did you say any of these?
