Description of NTNU, ITK • Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) • One of the largest technical universities in Scandinavia • 20.000 students; 1100BSc, 2200MSc and 260 PhD each year; annual budget 700MEuro • Department of Engineering Cybernetics (ITK) • 9 professors, 8 associate/assistant professors, 8 adjunct professors, 40 PhD students • 90 students get MSc degree in Cybernetics each year • External research funding 2M.Euro per year • Close cooperation with Norwegian and international industries (StatoilHydro, ABB, Siemens, SINTEF, Kongsberg…) • Advanced lab facilities (Robotics, Marine Cybernetics Labs)

Research at ITK • Guidance, navigation and control of ocean structures and marine systems • Dynamic positioning, autopilots for surface structures/systems • Autonomous underwater vehicles • Control solutions for Oil and Gas Industries • Process control for refinery, petrochemical processes • Robotics for remotely operated oil and gas production units • Modeling and control for hardware installation, operation and inspection • Other research areas: automotive, biomedical

Cooperation is sought in Autonomous and Remote operation/ monitoring of complex engineering structures Oil and Gas production units operated in hazardous and extreme environments Autonomous/remotely operated mobile robotic systems for inspection, maintenance, operation and installation of underwater production units Cooperative robotic systems for remote operation, maintenance and inspection of remotely located onshore and offshore production units
