  3. Possessive adjectives &pronouns • Possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her, its, our, their) are always used before a noun. • I like her eyes. Their house is huge. • Possessive pronouns (mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs) stand alone (don’t need any noun) and usually at the end of a sentence. • This book is mine. ( = This is my book) • Is that bike hers? ( = Is that her bike?)

  4. Possessive pronouns • Can be used after “to be” (most frequent) • I’m yours. It’s mine. The books are theirs. • Can be used after a noun + of • He is a friend of mine. Did you see the new film of his? • Can stand at the beginning of a sentence if they represent the subject. • Your garden is so big. Ours ( = our garden) is much smaller. • His bike was expensive. Hers ( = her bike) was cheap.
