Eliminating Pet Stains From Your Hardwood Floor Whether you are preparing your house for a guest visit, or to sell/rent, or you just want to totally clean your home, it is essential to deal with any pet stain and urine as soon as possible. If you are not sure where to start, we have some handy tips on removing pet stains on hardwood flooring. Urine smell and stain from pets can ruin not only the beauty of your hardwood flooring but also the smell of your home. No matter how trained your pets are, puppy accidents will still happen from time to time. The bad thing about dealing with pet feces and urine is that they are very difficult to totally clean. Sometimes you think that you have completely removed the stain and urine but then after a few weeks, you will realize that they are still there.
As a pet owner, you will eventually get used to such smell without realizing that it can really be very smelly for your guests or visiting friends or family. If for instance, you are considering to sell or have your property for rent, having such offensive odor can discourage your client to rent or buy your property, plus it can also affect the rental or sale price. Here are a few ways to remove stains from your hardwood flooring.
Use Paper Towels • One of the best ways to remove and avoid stains from your hardwood flooring is to remove the urine as soon as you spot it. Soak up the fresh urine with a thick layer of paper towel and remove them before they dry out. The more fresh the urine is when you wipe out of the floor, the more it would be easier for you to eliminate its foul odor. • After removing the paper towels, add another thick layer on the wet spot and then step on it so it can absorb the remaining urine. Repeat the process until the paper towel is completely dry.
Remove your pet's poop right away • It is important to remove feces from your hardwood as soon as possible before it dries out and before your house is filled with nasty odor. You can use a paint scraper or a dustpan for this. Just don't forget to use rubber gloves for your hand. Unlike urine, this type of mess produces heavier stains.
Use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda For more stubborn stains, you can use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Cover the stained area with paper towels and then spray enough hydrogen peroxide onto the towels. Just wet the towels a bit but do not soak them. Let the damp towels remain in the area for a couple of hours. If the towels start drying out, remoisten it once again. Remove the towels after about 5 to 6 hours.

Most of the time, removing feces and wiping the area with a paper towel are not enough. You need to apply any recommended cleaning solution that contains oxidizing agents to entirely remove the stain. You can ask your local store about any available cleaning solution that can effectively remove stains and that wont cause any damage to your hardwood flooring.
