GIS – ghost information file • The ghostbuster software generates an information file SPECTRAL ATLAS 4 / GIS Meridian Study 2004-10-03T23:24:52.538, s31134r17.fits GSET: 66 ; Slit no/size: 2 / 4"x4" ; Pointing: [0,968] ------------------------------------------------------------------- -- GIS Detector 1 - Likely Ghosting Regions -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- 154.544-162.676 173.922-182.495 192.073-199.780 210.414-214.423 Fe XI 180.2 A line ghosts to 160 A, 1434 counts (15%) recovered Fe X 177.1 A line ghosts to 157 A, 5791 counts (18%) recovered Fe X 174.0 A line ghosts to 154 A, 6293 counts (16%) recovered Fe XII 193.4 A line ghosts into 175 A --- Blend / unrecovered Fe XII 192. GIS – Data Archive Synoptic observations run since the start of the mission. For example, quiet sun obs: • SPECT_1Slit: 2x2" Raster area: 30x30" Exposure time: 30s • GIMCP Slit: 2x2" Raster area: 2x2" Exposure time: 100s Search the archive! IDL> headcat, cat96, year=1996 Search though cat96.SCI_OBJ to look for coronal holes, active region loops etc…
GIS – Line Intensities • LTGD decreases line intensity and broadens lines • Uncorrected intensities give an idea of detector evolution
SPECT_1 study Spectral line counts
GIS – LTGD methods • Filament dumps GIS1 in 2001 • GIMCPS1 study – line by line analysis 197 A 171A
GIS – Long-term Gain Depression • Flat fields available • Strong lines
Summary • Request observations • Request data • GIS is working well • Revision of calibration is underway • Comments on User Guide are welcome
