  13. The U.K.: The Basics 3. In sum… a. Generally, I think it is accurate to describe The U.K. as a prosperous, stable, Liberal Democracy b. And while it is no longer the dominant hegemonic Great Power it once was in its heyday, it is still a leading global military (one of 7 to 8 countries with nukes), economic and political power, especially now that it has literally become America’s most reliable and powerful junior partner in its quest to fight international terrorism, bring democracy to Iraq, and spread the benefits of freedom and capitalism to all (Noam Chomsky, 2005)…just kidding on the Chomsky reference…
