  1. BA(QTS) Year 1PDP ; Becoming an Effective Learner Introduction to the Integrated project 2011-12

Objectives and TDA Standards Begin to know and understand:- • what is distinctive about each of the subjects. • how the subjects can engage learners. • what the subject shares with other subjects. • how the subjects can support learning in other curriculum areas. Q14 – have knowledge and understanding of their subjects/ curriculum areas Q15 – know and understand relevant statutory and non- statutory curricula and frameworks

  3. The I.P. is an important part of the PDP module designed to build on and broaden your experience of the curriculum.

  4. The National Curriculum context • The Rose Review • The “mood” in schools • How children learn • Recent curriculum reviews

  5. Over the next week you will be involved in exploring the curriculum creatively. You will :- • plan for sensible curriculum links between 3-4 subject areas ( Q14, 15,22) • present results to peers and tutors ( Q4,6,32) 3. evaluate the project in terms of personal performance and implications for practice (Q7,8,9)

  6. You will be split into six groups and will need to subdivide to ensure everyone can play a role. The theme is “Cartwright Hall as a stimulus for the creative curriculum” .

  8. Presentations • Will be to the peer group and guests • Must last no longer than 10 minutes (including time for questions- approx. 2 minutes) • Will be followed by peer evaluations ( 5 minutes) • Should focus on the following key questions

  9. Key questions • What is distinctive about each of the subjects? • How can the subjects engage learners ? • What do the subjects share with other subjects? • How can the subjects support learning in other curriculum areas?

  10. Example : Landscape ; Amrik Varkalis • Geography – know and understand why places are like they are ( KS2 3D) • History – know and understand characteristic features of periods ( KS2 2A) • Art – record from first hand observation ( KS1 1A)
