  1. Policy Planning & Implementation Unit(PPIU) Department of Education Government of Balochistan

  2. Inception of PPIU The idea to set up a unit for policy and planning in education department was conceived during March-April 2010. For the set up of such unit a summary was initiated on need base for the approval of competent authority. The competent authority approved the establishment of PPIU in July 2010. Budget was also allocated for the said unit in the financial year 2010-11.

  3. Organisational set up of PPIU • Additional Secretary( Development)is the Focal Person of is of PPIU • There are 5 deputy focal persons, for the sections of Planning, Capacity building, IT, Finance • 5 Assistant Focal persons in the sections of planning, capacity building, finance and IT • These approved posts are being filled from within Education department.

  4. Technical & Financial Support • For the set-up of PPIU at the initial stage UNESCO provided its support e.g.; software and logistics. • More support is sought for the strengthening of PPIU especially in the following heads • Planning and capacity building of Human Resource, • Equpiment & Software

  5. Functions of PPIU • To provide professional coordination for development of all sectors of education department. • To coordinate between Donor agencies and implementing aurhorities. • To streamline all the Education Sector Plans ( ESPs’) • To Oversee all the activities being carried out under different projects.

  6. Progress • With the consultation of Unesco and NCHD Early Chidhood Education ( ECE), Education For All( EFA) Plans at provincial and district levels are in progress of finalization. • In this connection two workshops have been conducted. • Work is also at final stages for Balochistan Action Plan( BAP).

  7. WAYFORWARD • On Education Sector Plan with the help of GTZ & USAID the road map/framework will be completed in two months time.
