Strategic Planning: July 2011 Meeting • Sense of the Board in July that the “ten-year look” discussions needed to be developed further. • Facilitator provided written report, summarizing the July discussion. • Executive Committee was to use knowledge management tool to focus the discussion further. Chose concept mapping as approach. • Two ‘concept mapping’ sessions were held in October, using expert facilitator (Brian Moon). • Each group started from same baseline information: the Strategic Plan, and the July session report.

  3. Concept Mapping • A concept map is a diagram showing the relationships among concepts.   4. October 14 • Focus on what the environment would look like in 10 years. • Austerity and misalignment of politics and government. • Lead-times stretching, workforce stretching. • Shifting risk balance, risk aversion, reflected in contract types.

  5. October 17 • Focus on what the workforce will look like in 10 years. • Emerging generation will need a practical experience base to succeed – making sense of complexity. • Workforce operating in a global context, NCMA opportunity for expanded services and constituency.
