  1. How to make a good Tutorial Prappleizer

  2. Point # 1Have a relevant topic • Make tutorials on programs or subjects that people know or have questions about. • Some big ones are movie maker, Sony Vegas, PHOTOSHOP, etc. • People probably don’t need to know about cyberlink power director, so don’t focus all your attention there. • BUT, if you find that not many tutorials are out there for a particular thing, add your own, because it increases its chance of being picked to view.

  3. Point # 2TALK • If there’s one thing people hate about tutorials, it the famous, “tell them what to do using notepad” • Talk, talk, talk. Get a mike. People are much more likely to continue watching your video if you are speaking. People are reassured by a human voice. • People also understand instructions better when given by voice. • If you are scared of using your real voice on the internet, there are a variety of free programs like audacity that allow you to change the pitch of your voice.

  4. Point # 3Move slowly • Depending on your video recording software, the pan feature can make a video choppy. • Slow down all your natural movements, it makes the video easier to follow. If it is too slow, you can use a video editor to speed it up. • Select your screen area wisely. Using a smaller screen area will result in faster motion, but if you need the zoom, it’s a trade off. Bigger video capture area means lese movement (or none) but the file is bigger and you can’t see the zoom as well.

  5. Point # 4Be methodical • You are probably an expert at whatever it is you are doing. That is why you are Making the tutorial. However, you have to assume your viewers know nothing, which is why they’re watching the tutorial. DO NOT skip anything in your video that you find redundant, like ending with “open the file and enjoy!” Actually open the file. • Take your time, your not in a rush. If you hurry through your tutorial, it will be less methodical, and the viewers will feel that you don’t care enough to take a little time and make a quality tutorial. That is bad.

  6. Point #5ZOOM • If your video recorder has a zoom, USE IT. You can see your computer screen fine, but a viewer cannot see as well, especially youtube, which has smaller videos, that in full screen get blurry. • If your video recorder does not have a zoom, I highly recommend “magnifying glass”, available for free. It makes seeing small files being clicked, etc., easier to see. I use it in my video’s all the time. • If there is one thing that will move people away form your videos, its if they begin to watch but can’t see what it is your TALKING about!

  7. Point # 6Show them • This is similar to being methodical. It is a video tutorial, so the whole point is to SHOW them every step it took you to complete the task. Every step. No matter how small. Or else they (being inexperienced) wont know what to do.
