WEB OF SCIENCEversion 6.1 By Marja Maclaine Pont and Joke Webbink
What´s new in version 6.1? • Advanced search possibilities • Combine searches • Save search history • Alerting via email • Output options
Advanced search possibilities Now you can use field tags: • TS (topic) • TI (title) • AU (author) • SO (source) • AD (address) • See also : http://wos4.newisiknowledge.com/help/h_advanced.html
Combine searches • Combine set numbers, e.g. #1 not #2 • Sets can be created both in the General Search and in the Cited Reference Search • In this way you can analyse cited references, excluding self─citations
Save search history • You can save your search history (it is always the last set) by entering your email address and password • Tip: delete the search sets, before starting a new search history, otherwise the search history grows beyond control
Alerting via email • Set up an alert (always the last set of answers) • Use your email address and password, after registration • Weekly alerts, also with zero hits
Output options • After marking hits, go to the Marked Records List • Select the fields that you want to be sent or downloaded (16 fields)
To brush up your knowledge • The number of citations in the General Search is not the correct number; use the Cited Reference Search • Truncation: both at the end of a word (use at least three characters) and within a word: • ? One character only • $ zero or one character • * zero or more characters
