Where is Egypt? • Egypt is a country in northern Africa. • Majority of the population lives near the Nile River. • Egypt is home to some of the world’s most famous monuments, cities, and pyramids.

The Red Sea • The Red Sea is located East of Egypt. It was created from moving plates in the Earth. The Red Sea supplies the surrounding countries with the only source of water. The Red Sea is actually not red at all, it is blue. The theory of The Red Sea’s name is because it borders the Egyptian Desert, which the Ancient Egyptians called the “red land” so it was thought that the “red land” would have “red sea”. The Nile River FACTS • The Nile River is the longest river in the WORLD, measuring at 4,184 miles long. • The Nile River is the main and only river in Egypt. Click on the picture to learn more about The Nile River.
