  2. Mission Statement • The goal of the Ramsay High School Fine Arts Department is to provide a program which enhances cultural and intellectual growth of all students through the fine and performing arts.

Department Successes RHS Choral Music Program • Raised and donated $2000.00 to United Way for tornado relief • Participated in University of Alabama Honor Choir • New York City Tour • Hampton University Tour • Consecutive Superior Ratings at All-City Competitions • Participates in Alabama All-State Choir • Performs for many civic organizations

  8. RHS Dance Program Successes • Featured in 6 page spread in National Teacher Magazine • Mrs. Lindsay and Ramsay students were interviewed on nationwide broadcast • Featured on Black Entertainment Television • Interview airing soon on CBS • Attended Alvin Ailey Master Class

RHS Visual Arts Program • Our Annual Arts Extravaganza Opening Reception at Vulcan Park and Museum will beheld Monday, February 27, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. The students in this exhibition have been influenced by many East Asian cultures – China, Japan, and the Philippines. Art enables students at Ramsay High School to learn about history and cultures from multiple perspectives. This multiplicity makes our Magic City magical. • We will provide art therapy to students at Daniel Payne Middle School affected by the tornado the end of February. • We are looking forward to working with the Imagination Festival and Birmingham International Center April 27-29, 2012 celebrating India and the arts. • We are proud once again to be a part of the Cultural Community at the Magic City Art Connections weekend in Linn Park. • We are proud to have two chapters of the National Arts Honor Society and Jr. National Art Honor Society

  15. We, the members of the Fine Arts Department are excited to be a part of the highly anticipated International Baccalaureate Programme and its initiation at Ramsay High School. We feel that our content area is indispensable to the success of the program. Moreover, each of us brings a unique talent and perspective that opens learners minds to culturally relevant instruction as well as personal growth. We look forward to interaction with the other departments to enhance the total education of our students.

Next Steps… • The Fine Arts Department will continue to excel and enhance educational excellence by reinforcing the knowledge of other disciplines through foreign language instruction and the visual and performing arts. This will include exposure to a broad spectrum of cultural and academic experiences which will ensure that they will become active participants in a global society.
