Existing syllabus • Semester or Yearly pattern • Either can be followed – minimum contents should be taught • Addition always allowed • IOA-ASCO-CMOC – official representation to each college.
Existing faculty • Mentioned minimum qualification in CMOC can be followed.
Existing level of students • Entry criteria should be strictly followed – PCB or PCM – 50 % or 60% - open for discussion • Up gradation of existing professionals – to gradually abolish the diploma & certificate courses. • Lateral entry criterion ??
Top Management • Should be headed by Optometrists. • University & hospital based systems should try to balance the clinical/technical based educational system and academic oriented system.
University regulations • Recommended to have one CMOC core committee member in the board of studies.
Time frame • Next academic year onwards..??
Effectiveness of CMOC • Inspection of each schools by CMOC members to see the effectiveness. (Preferably Once in a year)
Barriers • Convincing the top management (Hospital / University) to implement CMOC in totality. • Awareness of OPTOMETRY as a profession
Solutions • To include a CMOC member in the board of studies of respective institutes.
