  1. Correspondence with a “Pastor”, part 1

  2. The root problem is that most Christians are uncertain of their Father’s love for them. They look right past the cross into the old covenant and conclude that God will not love them unless they first please Him. Never mind that Jesus gave us greatest demonstration of unconditional love the world has ever seen. Never mind that He told story after story about lost things being restored even though they had done nothing to save themselves. Never mind that He went around healing and forgiving the sick and undeserving. Nathan Miller

  3. Question raised Is salvation unconditional? "...Save yourselves from this crooked generation." Acts 2:40 "And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey him." Hebrews 5:9 "So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, "We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do."" Luke 17:10 "But why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and not do the things which I say?" Luke 6:46

  4. His answer Amos I can tell you are a good pastor but when you think that your salvation is based upon something that you do you miss the heart of God, are salvation is given to all that believe we can quote scripture all day and night. I am not sure how long you have been a pastor but I know you have argued with others and quoted scripture and they quote scriptures back to counter, that really does not edify the kingdom but drive a wedge an confusion to other, I can say this the more I love him the more I want to please Him. Not try to do out of a law or obligation it out of love, love brings a passion for law brings a obligation

  5. Response 1 Peter 4:11 “If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. …” John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 ”Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:Fear God and keep His commandments,For this is man’s all.14 For God will bring every work into judgment,Including every secret thing,Whether good or evil.”

  6. Response continued Luke 17:10 “So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, “We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.”” Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

  7. Response continued Philippians 2:12 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;” John 8:24 Luke 13:3 Matthew 10:32-33 Mark 16:16

  8. Response continued 1 John 1:5-10 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

  9. He counters Well Amos not sure if you are just trying to get a bible study in or maybe you did not get to preach today. Lol These are all awesome scriptures and thanks again for proving my point. Law pastor will always try and get there point across by words and fear. But Grace preachers will always come at you with love and hope. we are all on the same team but just have deferent approaches. God bless you, you are Nathan Miller

  10. Another reply I’m always trying to get a Bible study in. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 These are some awesome Scriptures. Do you agree with what they say? Is saying exactly what the Bible says getting the point across “by words and fear?” “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,” Titus 2:11-12 How does “the grace of God that brings salvation” teach us?

  11. Another reply, cont. 1 Corinthians 9:21 “To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.” Do we live under the “law of Christ,” like Paul did? 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8 “6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.” What is the gospel and how do we obey it? Is Paul wrong to say the harsh words he said in this passage? Am I wrong for quoting him?

  12. Another reply, cont. James 1:21-25 “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” James 1:25“Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” Is James wrong to teach people to hear and do the perfect law of liberty?

  13. The exchange continues Ok guys here you go if you wish to live by the law then that is your choice but my question to you if you love your wife and are in a relationship to her do you not cheat on Her because the law told you not to or because you love her, if the only reason you do not sin is because you where told not to then you do not really love. I don't love God out of fear but because he first loved me in-spite of me. I don't expect people to love God and give there lives over just because some words in a book say so or some pastor is putting fear in them . Would you want your wife to love you because she is sacred of you or because she fell in love with you. Nathan Miller

  14. My response John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” 1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” What does it mean to “love God?”

  15. My response, cont. Acts 20:26-27 ”Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.” Does “the whole counsel of God” include warnings about sin and hell (Mark 9:43-48)? Does it include warnings against backsliding (Hebrews 3:12-4:13, 10:26-39, 2 Peter 2:20-22)? Does it include warnings about false teachers and the dangers they present (Galatians 1:6-9, 2 Peter 3:14-17)? Does it include teaching about the certainty of death and judgment (Hebrews 9:27, 2 Corinthians 5:9-11)? Does it include warnings against hypocrisy (Romans 2:1-11)? If these things are part of the counsel of God, and we shun to declare them, are we guilty of the blood of some men?

  16. My response, cont. Also, those “words in a book” are the words of Almighty God, and they are how He has chosen to save us. Please read the following scriptures: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 “For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.” 1 Corinthians 1:21 2 Timothy 3:15-4:5

  17. My response, cont. John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” Matthew 7:21-28 Is keeping the law of Christ (1 Corinthians 9:1, Romans 8:2, James 1:25) important?
