  3. Procedure: Let’s look at the problem 56 x 32 = ? • First: you draw a rectangular box.

  4. 50 6 • Second you break down the number 56 to 50 + 6. And place the new number atop the rectangle Make sure you draw a line down where the two numbers meet. Make sure the line is representative of where they should be on the number line. It does not have to be exact.

  5. 50 6 • Third: You perform the same method to the next number, except you place it on the side. 30 2

  7. Fifth: You add up your products. Viola, you have your answer. • 1,500 • 180 • 100 • + 12 • 1,792
