  1. PRESENTATION OF THE COMMUNITY BUSTUCHIN

  2. Introduction • Where? – In the East of Tg Jiu, about 40km • 8 villages: Bustuchin (center), Cionti, Motorgi, Namete, Poina Seciuri, Poienita, Pojaru and Valea Pojarului • Population: 3657 (2006, constantly increasing since 2000) • First mentioned in 1516 • Resources of natural oil and gaz

  3. Where does the name come from? • Wife of a “cioban”, named Bustuchina • Children who built houses there and continued to cultivate sheep • They were called “Bustuchini” (16th century)

  4. About the population • In 2002: 1868 men and 1841 women • 0-14 years: 811 (40 more boys) • 15-18 years: 229 (7 more boys) • 19-23 years: 276 (10 more men) • 24-35 years: 728 (42 more men) • 36-50 years: 567 (27 more women) • 51-60 years: 356 (26 more women) • > 60 years: 742 (118 more women)

  5. The working group • Active population: 1023 • Occupied: 749 (73,2%) • Unemployed: 274 (26,8%) • Paid: 575 (56,2%) • Principal occupation of the people: Agriculture production of plants (corn, fruit trees) and animals (sheep, cows, pigs, chickens etc.)

  6. Infrastructure • Alimentation with water: 8,5 km, 349 houses • Canalization system: 0,3 km, 32 houses • Central heating: / • Asphalted streets: 12 km • Playing ground for children: 1 (0,01 ha)

  7. Medicine and health • Hospital: / • Several “cabinete medicale” (with 2 general doctors and 1 family doctor) and “veterinare” and pharmacies

  8. Education • 7 kindergarten • 6 primary schools and gymnasiums • 1 high school “Grupul Scolar Industrial Bustuchin” (until class 12)

  9. Culture • 1 House of Culture • 1 ”Camin cultural” • 3 libraries: 1 of the community and 2 at the schools • museum: / • Every Sunday: market

  10. Tourism • Potential touristy resources: countryside with hills, fishing, wandering, areas under environmental protection etc. • BUT: there is no tourism developed yet • Touristy points: “Fantana rece”, couple of churches (f.e. Valea Pojarului which one is a historic monument)
