  3. MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS • In 1752, he joined in the Virginia army. • In 1775, he was elected by the colonists to lead the Continental Army to win the Revolutionary War. • Helped write the Constitution. • Served as the first President of the US for 8 years. MAIN MENU

  4. INTERESTING FACTS • As a child, he went to school when he was 7 or 8 until he was 11 or 12. • He learned to read and write at home. • He was wealthy and had a plantation called Mount Vernon where he had many slaves. MAIN MENU

  5. Important Life Events • As a young man George worked as a surveyor. He measured lands and made maps. • Died in 1799 in his home called Mount Vernon, and he was 67 years old. • Born in Virginia on February 22, 1732. • He was born in the U.S. as a colonist and the land belonged to England.
