  2. The entire Bible points to the glory of God and the person and work of Jesus Christ. As we enter the Christmas season we celebrate the first advent of Jesus Christ and see the fulfillment of many of the OT prophecies regarding Jesus. These fulfillments remind us that Jesus is indeed God who came and died for us and it further points us to Jesus’ 2nd advent where He returns as King over all the earth. This morning we are going to explore the wonder of Christ’s first advent.

  3. “Now He said to them, ‘These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’” Luke 24:44

  4. The Probability of Jesus • Probability of Jesus being born in Bethelehem: • 1 in 300,000 • Probability of Jesus fulfilling just 8 of the Messianic Prophecies: • 1 in 10^17

  10. Jesus is born Precisely as prophesied! • He is born in Bethlehem • Micah 5:2 2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.” • Luke 2:1–7

  11. And he called His name Jesus.”

  12. Jesus lives exactly as foretold And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. • John 20:30–31

  13. Jesus lives exactly as foretold Called from Egypt Hosea 11:1, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son. 14. Jesus lives exactly as foretold Zeal for the temple Psalm 69:9, Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me. John 2:16–17, And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.”

  15. Jesus lives exactly as foretold Entry to Jerusalem Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. Matthew 21:1–11, 1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me…

  16. jesus suffers, dies and rises as messiah For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

  17. jesus suffers, dies and rises as messiah Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver Zechariah 11:12–13, Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord for the potter.

  18. jesus suffers, dies and rises as messiah Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver Matthew 27:3–5 3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.

  19. jesus suffers, dies and rises as messiah Humiliated and Abused Isaiah 50:6, I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. Matthew 27:30, Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. Psalm 109:25, I also have become a reproach to them; When they look at me, they shake their heads.

  20. jesus suffers, dies and rises as messiah Lots Cast Psalm 22:18, They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.
