  13. Challenges in Sustaining and Institutionalizing Coordination Mechanism

  14. ….Challenges • Need to develop a plan of action that responds to the needs of the GEF program while addressing the constraints • Need to address knowledge barrier – insufficient sharing of experiences , limited familiarity to GEF policies and procedures

  15. …Challenges • Need to clarify institutional governance barrier – overlapping mandates • Need to resolve policy barrier - sectoral development framework and policies vis country poverty reduction strategies

  16. …Challenges • Need to enhance M&E system an database of GEF projects • Strong need to link existing monitoring mechanisms of IAs/EAs with the monitoring of GEF-OFP • Need to review and fully implement the criteria for prioritization of projects for funding

  17. Future Plans & Directions • Preparation of GEF-5 Philippines’ Road • Map/Business Plan taking off on the • Strategic Plan formulated • Conduct of consultations with MEA focal • Points for project identification and prioritization • Engage IAs/EAs with MEA Focal Points for GEF 5 Programming
