Thornapple Kellogg SchoolsGovernance Team Standards of PracticeIn order to provide outstanding leadership and best serve the students of the Thornapple Kellogg Schools, we the Governance Team, commit to the following Standards of Practice: • Making the success of all students our first priority, • Setting high expectations for student achievement, • Demonstrating trust and respect for others at all times, • Agreeing to disagree and positively support Board decisions, • Communicating openly, honestly, and transparently, • Operating within the highest of ethical standards, and • Critically analyze board performance and executing action plans for improvement in order to continuously pursue excellence. Superintendent Goals 2011-12 • Finance: • Preserve the district’s “Fund Equity” • Continue to explore benefit options • Plan for the possibility of anothersignificant reduction in operating revenue • Plan for operating in the future with continued reduced revenue • Develop a plan to finance future capital needs • Continue to develop efficiencies of systems Communication: • Continuing to improve communication systems • Continue to improve utilization of Instant Alert • Move toward paperless systems of communications • Continue to implement district Marketing Plan • Educate the community in regard to key issues • Successful implementation of the new Strategic Plan Student Achievement: • All buildings on track to complete curriculum mapping on schedule • Utilize instructional practices focused on problem solving, creativity and technology • Develop a variety of rigorous common authentic assessments • Develop a system to assess graduates readiness for post-secondary life Organizational Culture: • Implement accountability systems to improve the quality of instruction • Continue a sense of urgency for raising expectations • Create a sense of urgency and comfort for using emerging technologies as a resource for learning and a tool for instruction • Increase opportunity for Staff tech training
