  3. Hebrews 5:12-6:1 • Perfection – here means completion or maturity – Colossians 3:14, 1 Corinthians 2:6, Hebrews 5:14 • Able to teach others • Skilled in the word • Digest solid food • Discern good and evil

  4. Attitudes we need • Do you want to be made well? John 5:6 A genuine desire to change! • No excuses!

  5. Attitudes we need • Have this mind in you • Philippians 2:5 • What is our mindset? Our attitude or disposition in determining what to do • Romans 12:1-2, renewing the mind

  6. Attitudes we need • Make up your mind to grow spiritually • Our concern is spiritual! • 1 Peter 2:2 • 2 Peter 3:18

  7. Attitudes we need • Strive to reach your full potential • 2 Timothy 2:15 • 2 Peter 1:5-7 • God deserves our very best in everything. Mediocrity is not acceptable!

  8. Attitudes we need • Learn to trust and love God • Hebrews 11:6 • Romans 8:9-11 • God works within us. But how? Through His influence – His word, His grace extended, through brethren, etc.

  10. Actions toward growth • Deal with sin and temptation • We need to understand the nature of sin and temptation. Prepare to deal with it. • Sin is lawlessness – 1 John 3:4, James 4:17, Romans 14:23 • Romans 6:23

  11. Actions toward growth • Deal with sin and temptation • Preparing to deal with sin • You don’t have to 1 Corinthians 10:13, 2 Peter 2:9 • Put on the armor Ephesians 6:10-18 • Be alert to sin 1 Peter 5:8-9 • Turn to God Matthew 6:13 • Run! 2 Tim. 2:22, 1 Cor. 6:18, etc. • Obtain forgiveness!

  12. Actions toward growth • Payer in our lives • A spiritual indicator • Prayer is imperative! 1 Thess. 5:17, Eph. 6:18, Romans 12:12 • Ask in faith James 1:5-6 • His will Matthew 6:10 • Understanding 1 Cor. 14:15 • With sincerity, humility & patience • James 5:16

  13. Actions toward growth • Bible study in our lives • A spiritual indicator • How God speaks to us! • 2 Timothy 2:15 • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 • With faith • With reverence • Intending to obey Matt.28:19-20 • With an open mind1 Pet. 2:1-2

  14. Actions toward growth • Giving God our best in worship • John 4:24 • Give Him our best in every act of worship! • 1 Peter 4:10-11 • Colossians 3:23 • Even as worship is addressed to Him, we are edified

  15. Are we done yet? • NO! Much left to do and consider • We can’t quit! • Hebrews 10:38-39 • 1 Corinthians 9:24 • Acts 20:24 • Luke 9:62

  16. Are we done yet? • We must redeem the time • Colossians 4:5Ephesians 5:16 • Redeem – to take full advantage of opportunity • Time is a valuable commodity. Life is measured in time!

  17. Are we done yet? • We are stewards of our time • The one talent servant – Matthew 25:18, 26 • Are we wasting our time? If every minute or second was money, how would we spend it? • God has given us precious time – how are we using it? James 4:13-17

  18. Are we done yet? • Take it one day at a time • Matthew 6:34 • We are still here! So we must keep going and growing! Revelation 14:13
