  1. Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder in the world, whose symptoms include involuntary movement that is caused as a result of unusual muscular tension and involuntary muscle contractions that cause great pain and discomfort. These symptoms have their origin in the central nervous system, which may move further to the brain in severe cases. Although dystonia is termed as a movement disorder, it is actually a group of neurological diseases that comprises of various different types of ailments. The list of various types of dystonia includes – Idiopathic torsional dystonia, which begins at a very early age, appearing in one limb and spreading on to another body part. X-dystonia, which affects young men in the Philippines, getting worse over the years. Responsive dopa dystonia, which begins at adolescence in Japan, USA, and Europe. Secondary dystonia, which is produced by blows or a lack of oxygen at birth. Focal dystonia, which affects only a single body part, like the hands, eyes, neck, vocal cord, or face. Segmental dystonia, which affects two or more connected regions of the body. Multifocal dystonia, which affects at least two unconnected regions of the body. Generalized dystonia that affects the entire body. Whatever the dystonia type, it requires the analysis of a specialist, who will first identify the dystonia, and then prescribe the required medications, injections, therapies, or surgery for a successful dystonia treatment in Bangalore .

  2. CURING DYSTONIA THROUGH MEDICATIONS There are various medications that can keep dystonia symptoms in control. These include carbidopa-levodopa, trihexyphenidyl, benztropine, tetrabenazine, diazepam, clonazepam, and baclofen. While these can keep dystonia symptoms under control, they can have various kinds of side-effect too like dry mouth, nervousness, drowsiness, blurred vision, constipation, insomnia, depression, or memory loss. CURING DYSTONIA THROUGH INJECTIONS One successful dystonia treatment in Bangalore is injecting the patients with Botox into specific muscles to reduce or eliminate muscle contractions and improve abnormal postures. The effect of this injection lasts for 3 to 6 months, which is why the patient is required to undergo this treatment process every few months to keep dystonia symptoms under control. However, this treatment also comes with side effects of dry mouth, weakness, and voice changes. CURING DYSTONIA THROUGH THERAPIES While medications and injections can keep the symptoms under control, therapies are required to keep the patient relaxed and at ease. Some suggested therapies could be physical therapy, massaging, sensory tricks, and speech therapy. CURING DYSTONIA THROUGH SURGERY When the case of dystonia is severe, and there is no form of medication or therapy that seems to cure the ailment, doctors would suggest a surgery – the Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. This involves the implantation of electrodes into the brain, and a generator into the chest. When connected, the generator sends electrical signals to the brain to control muscle contractions, thus suppressing the symptoms of dystonia. This kind of surgery also has side effects since there are external elements installed within the body. Whatever you opt for – medications, injections, or surgery – you can see that all of them have side effects. But, let not these side effects put you down.
