  2. Image Processing The tutorials are designed to give you an understanding of the image processing principles and how to use the tools within Photoshop. Don’t just repeat these for your portfolio. Demonstrate how you have applied selective techniques to certain images, and explain why you used them (in what way did it enhance the image), with an evaluation on how effective you consider the end result to be

  3. Assignment Portfolio (100%) Students will be required to draw up a portfolio demonstrating their understanding of image processing techniques. This should evidence how these techniques have been effectively applied to the Group Project assignment to professionally manage and produce digital images appropriately for publication.

  4. Assignment • The portfolio should cover the following areas of image processing; • Cataloguing and indexing images • Image format and compression • Colour and tonal adjustment • Retouching and correction. • Effects and filters.

  5. Assignment The portfolio should be a combination of text and supporting images, and should include research activities, examples of experimentation, methodology, and an evaluation of the techniques as applied to your own work. The portfolio should be at least the equivalent of 10 pages of well covered A4 pages, with at least 1000 words. The portfolio should be submitted in PDF format to the x-stream drop box by 24May 2013.

  9. Tone & Colour • May adjust exposure or colour……… • To give a more accurate representation of the scene recorded. • Artificially add a certain mood or style.

  10. Tone Correct exposure will ensure you have a good range of contrast. In difficult conditions, its better to underexpose than overexpose.

  16. Steps in Colour Management 1. Calibrate your monitor. Set the required profile under the Display Colour Settings.

  18. Steps in Colour Management 2. Set the Colour Working Space within Photoshop. Edit, Colour Settings, and select required profile (usually Adobe RGB1998)

  22. CMYK If needing to publish in CMKY. Convert to this before making any colour corrections. Within Photoshop, Image, Mode, CMKY.
