  2. What They Eat What's for lunch. Mantids eat grasshoppers, crickets and flies. You’re probably wondering how they get that food. Well they use their front legs and their good eye sight.

  3. Description Have you ever wondered what mantids look like? Mantids can be 1 to 6 inches. Their common colors are green and brown. But they do come in a variety of colors.

  4. Where They Live Mantids live in trees, bushes, and on lawns.

  5. Predators Some animals like to eat mantids. The mantids’ predators are their own kind, tarantulas, black widows, bats and frogs. You might not know how mantids escape from them. Mantids fly away or use their camouflage. Try to find the mantid in the picture.

  6. The life Cycle The life cycle of a mantid is egg, nymph and adult. It is a simple metamorphosis.

Interesting Facts Here are some cool facts about mantids. • The females eats the males. • Mantids can turn their head 180 degrees. • There are about 2,000 species worldwide most of them are found in Asia. • Mantids can see 18 meters or 60 feet away. • 880 species live in Africa and 20 live in North America. • In Asia there is a species of mantids that can grow up to 10 inches long.
