  2. 1. Read Through Read once for plot, again for stage directions and a third time for motivation and detail. 2. Blocking Plan the movement-then do it the same way every time. 3. Working (Memorization completed) Memorize on your own time. When working with your partner ACT the scene and do the blocking. 4. Polishing Fixing all the minor things and getting as close to perfect as possible. 5. Dress Use this time to rehearse costume changes and practice makeup routine.

  5. Blocking Notation

  6. Blocking notation is a way to record your planned movement – a shorthand for writing it fast and accurately so you remember it. Doing the same movement every time helps you recall the words and the words help you recall the blocking. Before you begin to block, you need another piece of information. What is it? You need to know (or decide) what the set looks like: where the doors and stairs and furniture are placed.
