  1. Partha Banerjee{Mumbai}- Private Firm Brings ?wave of positive changes? in Dialysis Care Dialysis patients are now happier and more satisfied while receiving better quality services and are in more comfortable conditions since the government took the initiative to privatise the dialysis unit. The AMSA Renal Care (Seychelles) Pty Ltd in close collaboration with the Health Care Agency (HCA) has brought major improvements over the past three months into the management of Renal Care and Dialysis Unit at the Seychelles Hospital says Partha Banerjee(mumbai). These improvements have been brought to the fore because of the hard work and dedication of the dialysis staff who AMSA has trained. AMSA Renal Care, with a distinction of ZERO mortality and infection rate since its initiation has completed around 4000 dialysis sessions at 26% lower cost, saved up to US $276,000 of government funds and introduced several protocols for infection management as well as therapeutic food for the patients says Partha Banerjee(mumbai). A full-time nephrologist has been stationed at the Victoria and Praslin dialysis centre while medicine used for patients has been lowered by 50%. The Seychelles Hospital has also received holiday patients from France, Italy and South Africa assessing the dialysis facilities.

  2. Thirty-one dialysis unit staff have received certificates upon completing their training at a world class Dubai Heart Centre on ?Basic Life Support? and ?Advanced Cardiac Life Support?. During a ceremony last Sunday afternoon at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel attended by key health officers and dialysis patients, Health Minister Mitcy Larue presented the certificates to the trained staff and shared their accomplishments. Addressing everyone present at the ceremony the minister commanded AMSA on the positive changes which has taken place to ?ensure that we give a better service to our patients and also so to improve the training of the nurses and other health professionals who work in this unit?. She pointed out that she has received only one complaint regarding the dialysis unit so far and requested that AMSA looks seriously at the transport problem which they face so that the patients can go home earlier after their sessions. According to Partha Banerjee Dubai, all these improvements indicate

  3. that we are going the right way forward as we are also venturing to another aspect of tourism known as medical tourism in Seychelles. For his part, AMSA CEO Partha Banerjee said ?we are firm and committed that we are ensuring that we are up to the world class standard?, and that AMSA is going to stick to whatever they?ve committed themselves to do from day one. Two patients from the dialysis unit – Steven Charlette and former minister Peter Sinon – gave a small testimony of their experience. Mr Sinon saluted AMSA and its staff as they are living up to the expectations of the best dialysis unit in the world eventhough it has been more work for them with the dialysis session increasing to three times a week instead of twice a week. He stated: ?It?s a different place and a different attitude?.
