Elements that Require Approval • Each course outline has three elements: • Course Master – contains all the constant, non-variable details; one per course no matter to how many programs the course is delivered, in post-secondary or continuing education; Associate Dean approval • Resources – are attached to the master course outline on a program-by-program basis; Faculty submit • Quick Link/CLink to Standards – links to Vocational Standards (VS), Essential Employability Skills (EE), and External Standards (ES), as appropriate, are attached to the master course outline on a program-by-program basis; Faculty submit • Each element must be approved individually in order for students to access course outlines upon registration.

Quick Linking Should not be used on a regular basis, especially for programs that have undergone program review Is often used, however, by new faculty or those who are not familiar with program mapping. Identifies which vocational standards (VS), essential employability skills (EE), and/or external standards (ES) the course (as a whole) helps the student accomplish Quick Linking is used during for the: Program approval process Credentials Validation Service (CVS) process Detailed on student view of course outlines on a program by program basis CLinking Is Mohawk’s preferred method of linking to standards Identifies which course learning outcomes help the student achieve VS, EEs, and ES by the end of the program, and to what degree: very significant = 4 significant = 3 moderate = 2 minor = 1 Used to develop Curriculum Mapping Matrix (CMM) Maintains up-to-date program map The CMM is the basis of program mapping and informs on-going program quality enhancement and program review All course outlines for courses in programs in review MUST be CLinked.

Regular/Options POS Semester Resource & Linking Status by Program A = Approved I = Input by not approved* X = No input* Program number and name for programs in which course is being taught during Fall 2009 Semester * Students will not be able to access course outline until all element are approved.

  9. Elements that Require Approval There are three sections of the program course outline that are approved: 1. Course Master (AD App’d) Faculty submit the course master for AD Approval. 2. Resources (Faculty App’d) 3. Link/CLink (Faculty App’d) Faculty approve resources and Link/CLink. However, only the AD can remove the approvals once they’ve been submitted.   10. Course Master Approvals (aka Approving the Course Master) In this section, Associate Deans approve the course master: There are two ways to view the course outline: 1. Click on: Pending - Course Master – content will appear in Course Information 2. Call up the outline on a program/program basis via Faculty View Find the Approve or Remove Approval Buttons at the bottom of the screen Approve Remove Cancel

  11. Resources by Program • Use this page to: • ensure resources are attached to each course outline by program. • remove resource approvals.

  12. Link/CLink by Program • Use this page to: • ensure course is linked to VS and/or ES • ensure learning outcomes are CLinked to VS, EE, or ES by program, • Remove Link/Clink approvals.

  14. Faculty View by Program To check full course outlines on a program-by-program basis, use faculty view. Subject, Course, and Term Code information are found on the Course Master Page.
