  3. General Information • Finland, is a Nordic country in northeastern Europe. • Capital City – Helsinki • Official Languag – Finnish • Finnish territory- 338 145 km² • Population - 5 223 442 • Neighbours – Norway, Sweden, Russia The Finnish Flag The Finnish Emblem

  4. Geography • In Finland, there are 187,888 lakes and 179,584 islands The highest point is calledHaltitunturi It is 1328 m high. There is a beautifulnorthern forest, which occupies only about 68% ofland. The islands are located mainly in the southwest. A quarter of Finland's territory is above the Arctic Circle.

Sights and atractions • - Helsinki - National Museum, National Gallery, Maritime fortress (registered in the UNESCO World Heritage site), Ateneum - art collection contains mostly 19th century, Temple of Eternal Sleep of the Virgin Mary, Markets for Market Square, Linnanmaki Amusement Park • - Turku - the first capital of Finland and probably historically the oldest city of the country, There is a Luostarinmäki - one of the few surviving parts of the city from the 18th century with wooden houses, Cathedral of 13th century Turku Castle - founded in the year 1280

  6. The National Museum of Finland • In the National Museum you will find a collection of 19th century. Located on the square Rautatientori, housed in a building from 1887. It is the biggest Finnish Museum. There is also the works of Vincent van Gogh, Fernand Leger, Marc Chagall and Paul Cézanne.

  7. Culture • Old Finnish culture was created from the original Finnish paganism. Christmas gifts to children gives Joulupukki, the Finnish Santa Claus. In Finland is very popular sport, in 2012 was in Helsinki Hockey World Championship. Sauna belongs to the Finnish culture too. In Finland, the sauna belongs to full equipped home.
