For example, an Ann Arbor, Michigan study found that 36% of the children of executives undergo treatment for psychiatric or drug abuse each year versus 15% of nonexecutives in the same companies.

Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

  6. Remember discipline is good. • Identify top two behavior problems. • Define clear objective rules and consequences. • Say “No” firmly and enforce consistently.

  8. You can’t make up for lost time, but you can start new patterns. • Loving discipline and meaningful connections require time. • Set up Family Night/Date Night. • Find common interests and build on them.

  10. Teach respectful disagreement. • Establish responsibility and mercy. • Avoid embarrassment. • Communicate grief. • Let them surrender well.

  12. The STRONGER your relationship with your children the more likely they will embrace your values and beliefs. • Connection and discipline look different in different stages with different children. • Teach them to fly and nudge them out of the nest.
