  1. PTE Tasks Changes Explained | Pre & Post Aug 7 Update Hello everyone, this is one of your PTE tutors! In this session, brought to you by our expert PTE Coaching, I’ll give you a quick and complete review of all PTE tasks – explaining the major changes before and after August 7 and how they affect your preparation. This single guide will cover everything you need to know, so read it till the end. Speaking Section 1. Read Aloud Before August 7: This task contributed heavily – around 35 marks in reading and also scored in speaking. Now: It gives only 5 marks, and those are only in speaking. ✅Strategy:You don’t need to read the full paragraph. Reading just one line clearly is enough. 2. Repeat Sentences Before: Gave about 30 marks in speaking and 30 in listening. Now: In speaking, it carries 12–15 marks only, but in listening, it’s the most important task (about 30 marks). ✅Focus: Practice this task mainly for listening. For full marks, focus on content and fluency.

  2. 3. Describe Image Before: Not very important, worth around 15 marks. Now:It’s highly significant, giving around 25 marks in speaking. ✅Tip: Practice this task thoroughly. Old templates still work fine. 4. Retell Lecture Before: Was a fluency-based task. Now:It’s content-based and contributes around 15 marks in listening. ✅Tip: Speak meaningful content. You can use templates, but template type matters. Writing Section 1. Summarize Written Text Before: 7 marks in writing and 2 in reading. Now: Gives 20 marks in reading and 20 in writing. ✅Tip: Use the same method as before. A slight rephrasing can improve your score. This task is now crucial. Reality Check: Templates can help you score up to 65, but not beyond 70. To score 70+, you must write your own ideas and examples – around 100 words of original content. Templates with fixed lines (50–60 words) plus your own content = structure. That’s what helps push scores higher. Reading Section Reading is now slightly easier with simpler language but less time. ✅ Time management is now crucial. A major change: Reading & Writing blanks no longer affect writing scores. Mistakes in reading will only reduce reading marks, not writing. This is good news for test-takers. Listening Section 1. Summarize Spoken Text Was not important earlier, but now content matters a lot. ✅ Write full phrases instead of just keywords for better scores.

  3. 2. Listening Blanks Before: Worth 20 marks. Now: Worth only 5 marks. ✅ No need to spend much time here. 3. Highlight Incorrect Words Still an important task. Also contributes 10 marks to reading. 4. Write from Dictation Slightly less important for listening, but still very valuable for writing. ✅ Practice regularly. Final Tips & Insights This was a quick overview of all tasks and their current weightage. Each task has its own strategies and tricks to master. ?Why is PTE now easier? Because the overall complexity has reduced. Earlier, too many teachers and institutes led to confusion. Now, the focus is on real skills. If you practice properly and focus on the right areas, cracking PTE is easier now than before – especially in Speaking and Listening. Writing and Reading need more strategy and understanding, but they’re still manageable.
