Background • The College’s current strategy and objectives were published in 2006 for the period up to and including 2009. • The current strategy can be found at http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/planning/strategy/strategicplan • Views of staff, students and other interested stakeholders will be sought at various stages, the details of which are outlined in the following slides.

  3. Phase 1 • Senior staff and the Governing Body (Council) discuss and explore key priorities for the College over the next 10 years with a view to agreeing where the College should aim to be by 2020. • All other staff are welcome to email their thoughts and ideas to strategy2010@imperial.ac.uk and respond to a list of key questions which will appear on the Planning Division’s website • Key milestones include:

  4. Phase 2 • HoDs provide their views on how the College will achieve its aims for 2020. A series of breakout focus groups held at the Rector’s Away Day to discuss specific and emerging themes. • Key milestones include:

  5. Phase 3 • The first full draft of the new strategy made available internally on the Planning Division’s website and all staff invited to submit their comments. • Key milestones include:

Completion and approval of strategy • The web-based consultation (Phase 3) will be open for six weeks and its close will mark the end of the staff consultation process. • The first draft will then be revised according to the main themes and issues arising from the comments submitted. • The Management Board and Council will then be invited to approve the new strategy.
